Why Athletes Are Ditching Melatonin
Melatonin only nudges sleep onset timing. It can't stop the cortisol spikes pulling you out of deep sleep at 3AM, and it can't quiet a nervous system still activated from training.
It also has a documented accuracy problem - most melatonin supplements contain amounts that don't match the label, some exceeding natural levels by 100x. That's not something an athlete optimizing next-day performance should be guessing about.
Melatonin is not an effective or reliable sleep solution for most athletes.
